By January 11th the true extent of the damage was beginning to take shape. A few more storms had hit the Lower Mainland bringing down more trees and damaging others. The seawall is closed from below Prospect Point (just east of Lions Gate Bridge) to Third Beach. Re-opening the seawall will take months because there is significant structural damage to it.

On this walk I went deeper into the park because most of the main roads have been cleared. Prospect Point is still closed off.

The images speak for themselves. The most noticeable change now evident is the extent to which there are major clearings yards into the forest where complete sections of tree downings occured. It is now possible to see much deeper into the forest from the roads.

The size of the root balls on the toppled trees is amazing. Some are more than 6 feet tall.

The sequence of these images is exactly as they were taken. More to come.
