Stanley Park

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Lost Lagoon

Lost Lagoon is the first feature of Stanley Park that many visitors experience. It is situated at the Georgia Street entrance and is beside the end of a city bus line bringing visitors here. The walking path around Lost Lagoon is one of the favourites in the park especially for the residents of towers next door. At one time it was possible to travel by small boat at high tide from Coal Harbour to English Bay but construction at Georgia Street and Ceperley Playground has made that a memory only.

A stone bridge at the southern end of the lagoon separates it from the area that flooded occasionally closer to what is now Cepperley Playground.

In 2001 a series of holding ponds were created by dyking off a portion of the lagoon at the northwest corner . These ponds now serve as filters for most of the road run-off water that flows into the main body of the lagoon.
