Redevelopment of Georgia Street entrance to the park
After the completion of the new causeway through the park joining downtown with the Lions Gate Bridge to the North Shore, work on a improved entrance to Stanley Park was begun. It was a multi year effort complicated by the fact that during all of the construction traffic continued flowing through this section every day.
This collection of images records the extent of the redevelopment. All previous traces of the old entrance were demolished and replaced. A major change was the relocation of the city bus loop which previously was next to Lost Lagoon but is now deeper into Stanley Park close to several important park elements including the rose garden, the pavilion, the petting zoo and the children's train.
