The beaches and pools of Stanley Park

At high tide there are 3 distinct recreational beaches attached to the Stanley Park Seawall. Though not within the boundaries of the park English Bay Beach is situated at the Beach Avenue entrance to the park and is Vancouver's most popular beach. Second Beach and Third Beach are approximately 1km and 2km away from English Bay Beach. At very low tide the complete distance from Siwash Rock to English Bay Beach is exposed for one continuous walk. At such times rocky breakwaters and tidal pools have to be negotiated but it is mostly sand or smaller rocks with numerous tidal pools or depressions carved into large rock outcroppings that contains many varieties of marine life.
